The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Created | Updated Mar 14, 2003
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, also known as the CBC, is now clearly a foundation in the lives of Canadians. It is the only broadcaster in Canada to have both television and radio stations, and Canada's largest cultural institution. It is also Canada's first broadcaster.
The CBC gets its funding from the Canadian Government, as well as from advertisers that have their ads on CBC Television. Many Canadians say that government funding is the primary reason why Canada has continuous problems balancing the budget, others say that this has nothing to do with it and the government should continue funding it in all ways possible. According to the CBC, the cost to Canadians per week is only a dollar, which averages out to $52 a year.

CBC Radio, or CN Radio as it was called when it was started, was founded in 1924.
