How To Get To Moviechat
Created | Updated Mar 6, 2003
The BBC used to run regular webchats for the contributors on the BBCi Films messageboards. Alas, it does them no longer1.
However the denizens of the Films boards wanted an outlet where they could get together and chat2 so we set one up ourselves. Because of the rule that only BBC internet addresses can be mentioned on the boards, it is difficult to let people know how to attend the chat.
There are no such rules in h2g2, so marge gunderson, who set our chat up, has allowed me to put directions up here.
There are several ways into the chat:
- Visit the Voodoojunkie Java chat.
- If your browser doesn't support Java, try the Voodoojunkie CGI chat .
- Alternatively, try the Blitzed Webchat, entering "moviechat" in the "Chan: #" box.
- If you already have an IRC client program, such as mIRC, pIRCh or if you have a Macintosh, IRCle, point it at3
IRC server: irc.blitzed.org
port: 6667
channel: #moviechat
Macintosh users: if you have OSX, you can get Java from Apple.
Usual times for chat are 8pm-10pm Thursdays, but look out on The Cinema Lobby messageboard for any changes.
See you there!
