Corning, Ny...The rock solid truth to all Canadians that, Contrary to popular belief, Canada IS much better than America. This town is a little town of about roughly 10,000 people, and that number drops every day. Located in upstate New York, it is not even resonably close to anything of importance, save the Ny/Pa border, where Ciggarettes can be bought at significantly cheaper prices. Home to the fantastically once wealthy Corning Inc. which, as a result of Sept. 11th aftermath stock plummeting, is quickly going down the tubes and taking this town with it.
Dining
If per chance you do happen to swing by this town, make a point to visit at least two resturants: Sorge's Italian resturant, and Aniello's Pizzaria. The former is the best italian food in the world save from Italy herself, and the latter has such good pizza you might even think about staying an extra night. Other lovely dining expiriences are to be found at Frills of New York Deli shop, The Gaffer Grill & Tap room, and Declemente's Deli.
Entertainment
Unless you like glass, don't expect to be entertained. There is the Corning Museum of Glass, and thats about it. Literally. Oh sure, there's a Movie theatre in nearby Painted Post (a community joined at the hip to Corning and, as such, is generally considered part of Corning) and there are plenty of Bars (pubs, i believe the English call them) but other than that, nothing.
Industry
Fibre Optics. Thats the word in Corning. Most jobs come from Corning Inc., and thier jobs are mainly dealing with fibre optics and ceramics.
Thats pretty much the gist of Corning. Might be nice to visit if only for the food and strange glass sculptures, but past that, not too much of a blast.
