tony williams!

im not sure if this one is gonn get much attention but here goes.

do you know anything about tony williams??? he was miles davis's drummer from 1963 to 1968 (i think) and played in a way that has never even been attempted. he was completely 'in' with the soloist. whatever they where doing he was picking out tiny ideas and expanding on them. he predicted what they were going to say next. he played a teeny teeny bit ahead of the beat - just to give everything that edge. i have never heard anything as amazing as him. the scariest thing is, he was 17 when he joined the band in 1963. (not even from elvin jones, rashid ali and joe chambers). and he died a few years ago. (i cried when i found out just cos i thought he was still young enough for me to meet him one day...)

so i u have anything to tell me about him specially about the stuff he did after in a silent way with john mclaughin, id be delighted. it would be great to do one of those long entries on him i think.

and im gonna do a miles thing for musicians soon i think
