Seven Pillars of Wisdom

When I ran across this book thirty-some-odd years ago, I had no idea that it would leave such a lasting impression. This is the autobiographic story of the Arab revolt against the Turks in WWI written by T.E. Lawrence (aka T.E. Shaw). Lawrence of Arabia. There are so many facets to this gem, that reading it once is not enough. Beside giving you insight into the Arab mind and into Lawrence's mind, it's an amazing bite of history. The struggle was perfect for a novel and Lawrence was a talented writer, and a fascinating subject all by himself. While probably not for everyone, this book is a literary masterpiece that deserves recognition.
