A Conversation for Talking Point: A Good Read
"The Big Read"

For me, the most curious thing that came out of the "The Big Read" programme was not that I wanted to read those novels which had passed me by, but that I wanted to read most of my favourites again, including "The Wind In the Willows"!
Small confession time; my reading tends to be dominated by pupil essays and class texts as prep. for lessons. When it comes to reading for pleasure, if I can't manage it in the 30 - minute bus journey to and from school, then I can't manage it at all. Which can make recommending personal readers for my "bookworms" problematic and embarrassing...

I agree it managed to inspire in me the desire to re-read the books I have already read, although I will admit to a certain smugness about war and peace not that its a good book but there is a sense of achievement in having finished the bloody thing.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
