re the differences between the nautilus shell formation and that of the common garden snail.(helix aspersa)

However, there are many types of snails and they all develop unique shapes according to their species. I think it is fair to leave the contrast that unlike snails, the nautilus develops a chambered shell and not get sidetracked. - but it is up to you of course.

OK, how about changing this:
The basic shape of a nautilus is like the shell of a garden snail, but with the opening facing upwards.
to this:
The basic shape of a nautilus is a spiral, like a flattened version of the shell of a garden snail.

in my opinion perfect! ( although to be pedantic you should say
*common* garden snail, because there are other sorts such as the banded garden snail.)
(can you tell I trained as a biology teacher?)

not really - but if you had been a biologist you may well have written this from a scientific viewpoint. Because you have written it from your own perspective it is much more accessible, which is why I said I liked how you had pitched it.

I've tried to avoid saying this but, I don't like much the dramatic bit at the end of the title either. Nautiluses was fine, really -- it has an eerie ring which sort of makes you feel that you are in deep sea (or maybe it's just me).

I still think that 'Nautiluses' whilst grammatically correct, just doesn't scan well, for a title. As the entry is mostly about Nautilus pompilius, perhaps 'The Chambered Nautilus' would be more appropriate?
And...
...a dramatic title would draw non-scientists into reading the article, if the title makes it look dull from the outset it will be less appealing. The pitch of this article is aimed at the general public, and I am for a more wide ranging 'Stop me and read me' title.

Lanzababy, you're forgetting things. Check posting 13 in which I announced that I changed the title as per your recommendation, and posting 14, where you thanked me for doing so.

Sorry, Eagle, can you be more specific?

I'm happy with the entry as it stands.
Toybox is not fully happy with the title, which was suggested by Lanzababy.
Not-so-bald Eagle has made some comments about agreeing with Toybox and also agreeing with a suggestion of Lanzababy's but has not been forthcoming when asked to explain what he meant, so I think we'll have to ignore him.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
