The laws that govern physics are observable, technology is predictable and readily controlled. the Force cannot be controlled or controlling unless by the express wish of the individual. Through each person's will, co-operation and trust, The Force will enable them to control their own omniopotent cells or if The Force can control them so that they can be helped to acheived their goals in life and being open to the Will of The Force.
The serious attempts that have been made at comprehensing the Force as both a tangible presence in life. This has parallels in the Taoist concepts of embracing K, as well as the Hindu understanding of Prana as an energy that exists in within and around us which is the very essence of life itself.
Chinses philosophers describe chi as a microcosmical 'matter-energy' which is fundamental in forming and governing the universe. This could explain what George Lucas was referring to in his very brief description in 'The Phantom Menance' which describes the 'midichlorians' organisms which allow the Jedi to manipulate the Force. The traditional Chinese physician, usually a Taoist by education will describe microbactmaterial which circulates within the body, maintaing the Living Force which makes the body function.
Aikido, is a Japenese martial art that was developed by Master Ueshiba Morihei, in the last century, has made heavily use of the concept of Ki, or the Living Force. Aikido is one of the more spiritual martial arts and has been described as the 'moving zen' of the martial arts. The name Aikido means the way of harmony of Ki. It is the most spirtitually orientated Aikido which refers to Ki existing as a physical entity and can be transmitted through space.
