Isola Vicentina, Italy

Isola Vicentina is a small town on the outskirts of Vicenza, an industrial city in northern Italy's Veneto region. Consisting of about 8000 inhabitants the concentration of artists, musicians, bars and hair salons belies the truly provincial nature of the town. Situated at the end of the Colli Berici and at the foot of the prealpine Dolomites it distinguishes itself as a mecca for virtually no one.
The monastery, dating back to the 1400s is devoted to the virgin Mary, said to have answered the inhabitant's prayers by alleviating a nasty beetle infestation.
The various local fastivities are each dedicated to a particular saint or form of wildlife that is good to eat. (the wildlife, not the saints)
Isola is also a commercial hub, being situated between Vicenza, Schio, Valdagno and Dueville.. as a result many infuriating truck drivers plague it's undersized roads and prices are high.
