Welsh vs Anne Robinson

1 Conversation

I assume everyone has heard what Anne Robinson has said about the Welsh. On two occasions now she has insulted a couple of million people in one go. The first instance was as most of us remember on room 101 in March 2001. THe following is taken from BBC News:

The Weakest Link host said on the BBC show Room 101, where guests discuss their pet hates, that she had "never taken to the Welsh" and found them "irritating and annoying".

Sure some action was taken and she was given warnings but no charges were ever made. But is this really that fair. In a society that prides itself on being multicultural this is petty, childish but worst of all Racist! Im not a Welsh Nationalist fanatic or anything like that. I do laugh to Welsh Jokes and dont take it personally but when something like what Anne Robinson said is spoken as nastily as she did, I do. If anyone said anything like that about anyone from any other Nationality they would get in serious trouble. Why so is this not the same in the case of the Welsh? Surely we should start setting proper standards and not have double standards in the supposed tolerant society we live in today.
