ED-E42
Created | Updated Dec 4, 2002
Age: Unknown.
Background: Two decades ago a non-existent government agency was thrown into chaos when their entire network of satellites (which of course didn’t exist) suddenly stop responding. All attempts to locate the satellites failed miserably and they were given up for lost. After an extensive investigation it was found that one of the relay stations had uploaded a series of unauthorized commands into the network. The logs of the commands as well as the entire relay stations software had been deleted, leaving only a single digital signature. The signature was translated and sent to the appropriate non-existent supervisor. It read one line: “Do you know where your towel is? ED-E42.” This was the first of many major acts of technological piracy committed against the many non-existent agencies of the government. Systems failed and hardware vanished throughout the most advanced government projects (non-existent and existent alike) setting the technological growth of the entire society back by years. This has continued over the last couple decades and has become the primary concern of the major law enforcement agencies of the nation. The source of the attacks has remained well hidden, but all left the same signature: ED-E42.
Description: ED-E42 (commonly called Eddie by the few that have met him) stands at a short 5’3” and would most likely be turned down for admission to a PG-13 movie, had he any interest in movies. Those that have spent time with him would tell you not to be fooled by his very young appearance. Long, ill-kempt raven hair frames the soft skinned cheeks of a twelve-year-old boy. His eyes, however, are like frost. Cold and calculated in everything he does, his only constant companion is S.Y.D. – a seemingly inert silver sphere that has a peculiar tendency to float around of its own will. Constantly chirping at ED-E42 in a high pitched feminine voice, the two make a perfect compliment.
Strengths: He is quite literally a genius. Often seeming to pull facts out of thin air, which makes for interesting introductions. This along with his apparently vast wealth allows for the creation of all sorts of electronic devices. Though not proficient in the use of weapons he is quite skilled in the crafting of many advanced devices.
Weakness: He seems weak physically. Short and thin, he seems almost frail. He does not interact well with others and often comes off as cold or aloof. Harsh sarcasm tints everything he says.
How/Why: Apparently hell bent on undermining the technological growth of the government, he will secure Daedalus for himself or destroy it in the process.
