It should be noted to any and all interstellar, or not so far-away-from-home, travelers that when asking a shop keeper or waitor for a carbonated sugary beverage that the term "Soda" (so'-duh) should be used in all regions of Earth. If you find yourself in the central plains (Mid-West) area of the United States go ahead and play with the term "Pop" if you wish. (Mid-Westerners are a quirky lot that tend to name things after the sounds they make.) But, be very careful not to get too accustomed to using it, as asking for a "Pop" anywhere else in the world is unlikely to result in the delivery of a Soda or anything remotely like it and could in fact get you a sore eye.
It should also be noted that Soda sweetness varies greatly across this little planet of ours. When in London, England, U.K. recently, I noticed that there was just something slightly differant about the Coka Cola over there. I couldn't quite put my finger on just what the difference was until I got back to the States. The first Coke that I had after stepping off the plane back home tasted like syrup when compared to the stuff in England. I like theirs better.
So long for now. Enjoy your stay! Oh, and uhhh ....... DON'T PANIC !!
