Msts

Msts incompass several different branches of "knowledge". Two really, and they are "fanfiction" and "Msytery Science Theatre (which is the source of the acronym Mst)". I will spend a brief moment with each, considering there are already other entries on the subjects.
Fanfiction- The creating of your own story using a real author's characters and ideas, while totally sabotaging their plot although you use part of it. It is pretty fun to actually do, but not fun to actually read. Also, it is generally done by fans of the book that is being ficted, and therefore, sort of lacking artistically. There are good ones out there though. But let us continue.
Mystery Science Theatre- I personally do not know much about this, and there is a very, very extensive description of it if you do a search for it here. I do know how it pertains to Msting though, and that's what is important. A man and his robot(forgive me if I'm wrong) are being punished by being locked in a room and are foreced to watch old scifi flicks. The only way they can survive is to make fun of it line by line.
Combine the two, and you have a Mst. A Mst is a fanfiction that has been ripped apart, and put back together line by line- but with humor. These are created by individuals who either a)are sick and tired of fanfiction in general, or b) found a simply terrible one that just had to be made fun of. Anyone can mst, but sometimes it's just as bad as the fanfiction. I have found one site dedicated explicitly to Lord of The Rings fanfiction, and it is just amazing- www.alswaiter.net . If you read a few, you can get a hang of the trend. You could even try your hand at a few if you have places to post it. If you want to read an amateurs attempt, you can read one of mine at www.xanga.com/SpamSession . It only has one though. Anyways, enjoy.
