Messenger Fatigue

Valentines - Love has many hooks that captivate one like a venus flytrap.
Softly spoken sentimentality and over priced tokens in hand delivered with widened eyes, smiling expressions usually do it for most. Hearts won, and flowers at a stonking price.
Similarly when we are invited to join a social celebration or promotional event it helps to see a table with easy bites and drinks on it with a table cloth of many friendly colours, and a group of smiling and easy chatting folk. The pounds pile on as the sense of balance fades while holidays are compared and Brexit avoided.
When with small children in public spaces most parents and especially grandparents try to make the occasion as sweet as possible especially on their taste buds. This can be disturbed by screaming and red faced tantrums when dreams are not met, much to the embassasement of the children present.
So all in the human hive is mostly friendly and manageable where noone intentionally farts loudly.
Then it happens!
Someone speaks of consequences caused at least in part from all that consumption bought happiness on our planet's ecosphere (environment to some) and that we are literally consuming it to death!
Tumbleweed uproots itself and crossed the room in slo-mo.
'Purge the Heretic'
'Shut it down'
'Turn your backs, 'Oh is that the time I really must be going ....'
As faked disturbance of upset felt from those nasty 'negative' comments are communicated to the originator beginning with raised eyebrows and frowns aimed at the big bad wolf truth teller, a backlash is forecast.
'Fake News'! Someone must speak up, someone must act, we cannot have this!
So the messenger is 'politically corrected' for scaring the children and grandparents and causing parental dignity disorders (which are really only wind) by self appointed guardians of the fantasy that all is fine and if not its not us who did it.
Science comes to the Silence.
More than a few times, scientific studies by reputable educated publishers have concluded that you cannot get ordinary people to listen to uncomfortable truths of needed changes which might frighten them, even with truthful facts!
It just isn't supposed to work and most will ignore it or open a bottle of alcohol to whip up enough denial or simply to forget it.
People are unfathomably daft most of the time, I ought to know I've been one all of my life!
imagine that if you see smoke coming from a back room of a home where a family are enjoying a cheery occasion in a front room,and you wish to alert them to danger.
Is it appropriate to be 'nicer' by writing them a warning message on a greetings card you pop off to get at a local shop and pop it through their letter box? That instead of banging on the front door and disturb their TV experience or afternoon naps?
A phrase that recent now fading political times have made even more maddeningly inappropriate, was "Political Correctness" its truly dead now after populist autocratic politicians with not a clue of any correctness at all squashed it with verbal mallets.
Yet still it is used by the unmovable clueless to justify their Canute ways toward Climate Disaster that is snowballing toward them and their loved ones.
As I wrote this originally in December, container ships from China were closing up to Western docks to offload millions of tons of nonsensically short life 'landfill ready' Christmas products, while dreamy typess succumb to the fantasy of an impossible white Christmas season officiated by a fat red genie that sprung from a Cola in the 1920's, complete with matchingly impossible flying Bambi's.
No wonder the Earth might soon hit the Reset button, (to humans that's the words, 'Mass Extinction') to cleanse itself of a misfit species that prayed to a God of money.
Humans, evolved by nature yet self extinguished by a failure to accept simple and obvious mathematics of exponential demand on a finite planet.
All you need is love, isn't a complete line in a song because we also need to accept of the reality of the consequences from all that 'loving'.
