There's a Penguin Day coming up... http://worldpenguinday.com/
This Entry tells how you can spend time with them and get paid for the privilege, if you can stand the extremes.

I like it, GB. It does feel a little like an advert for the charity but on the other hand I don't know of a way to talk about the job without doing so!
I liked your bullet points.

This is a lovely little entry! Although I started wondering how you did your research. Have you been there?
One question. You say the research station was manned until 1962. Presumably a new one was opened up elsewhere - is it worth saying this?

Now that's a job worth applying for...think of the photo ops!

Thanks for reading and for the comments folks
Vip - I didn't mean it to sound like an advert for the charity, I was aiming for highlighting the novelty of getting away from it all but I realise it's only for the fittest and probably those with no ties. I'm pleased you liked the bullet points
mvp - no, I've never been there, I couldn't stand the conditions, although a Southern Hemisphere cruise is on my wish list and it would be a wonderful stopping off point on my way to New Zealand I did my research from watching a documentary on the "Penguin Post Office" I saw on tv last year and the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust to check the facts and job description.
>>You say the research station was manned until 1962. Presumably a new one was opened up elsewhere - is it worth saying this?<<
I assumed it was abandoned in 1962, I don't know of another research station, sorry.
I agree FWR - some of the photos I've seen are amazing
Bob! Good job I know you're joking

Brilliant! You'll be our featured entry (by stealth, as always) in the Peer Review link on the 15 February Post FP. (I'd already done that before you messaged me about the selfie link.)
That must surely be the most out-of-the-way British Post Office in the world. I wonder if there are other exotic post offices we could explore?
It kind of reminds me of one day when I rode the aerial tram to the top of Stone Mountain Georgia. It's a very large monadnock. There, at the top, stood a solitary telephone booth.
I couldn't resist. I made a call. I said, 'Hi, Elektra, guess where I'm calling from?'

Their time there is almost over. One of the team is being picked up tomorrow. I reckon it will take some time to adjust to their normal lives again!

Thank you. If you have a spare hour or two, read the current blog. I am impressed I haven't found one spelling error and it's so descriptive it feels just like you're there. How much they appreciate being invited aboard passing yachts for a hot shower and the wonderful gift of a sack of spuds for real mash instead of the rehydrated powdered stuff

Do they mention certain chocolate biscuits made since the 1930s in their blog at all?
