Mars, god of war. Mars, the red planet. Surprising how far back the fascination goes.
A Book About Mars

In 1609, Johannes Kepler wrote his monumental book, Astronomia Nova ΑΙΤΟΛΟΓΗΤΟΣ seu physica coelestis, tradita commentariis de motibus stellae Martis ex observationibus G.V. Tychonis Brahe. As you can see, it included a section on Mars, based on the observations of the great Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. We thought you might like to see a page from this tome. If you'd like to read the rest of it, go here and brush up on your Latin. Well, if he'd written it today, it would have been in English, right?
Nice to know that our cutting-edge science is based on the patient work of cutting-edge scientists of a bygone day.
