I've read through again and I'm happy with this, we'll see if anyone else has any further comments.
Is this part of your Digital Cameras project, or a standalone entry?

"Prime Lenses or fixed focal length lenses, they have no magnification capability and set at a range between 100mm to 800mm"
Hi Bob, don't quite know what these numbers refer to? Primes come in fls much lower and higher than 100 to 800mm? Maybe this needs clarifying mate.
Another bonus not mentioned is they are usually a lot faster than zooms/teles and there's a lot fewer moving parts, so fewer things to go wrong!
I know you didn't want to go into technicalities but the quality and speed of prime lenses deserves a mention.

What numbers mate? I want to make the entry as clear as possible

Just trying to keep it simple mate if you have a simple explanation to offer I would love to read it. I could not find a simple or any other explanation on the web last time I looked.
It probably needs an entry of its own

Ooh – you've added lots of numbers since I read this last.
If this topic gets overly complicated as you suggest, it probably would be better to have a full explanation in a dedicated entry on that topic rather than go off on a tangent here. We also don't want readers to be blinded by science or put off. If you wanted to put these numbers in a table, here's an example of how to do so - feel free to tweak and/or ignore it.
Focal LengthMagnification
50mm1× (zero zoom)
100mm2× zoom
150mm3× zoom
300mm6× zoom
400mm8× zoom
500mm10× zoom
800mm16× zoom
1000mm20× zoom

Quick question: should the focal length/magnification table go in the zoom lens section?

Both might be better as it refers to all types of lens if you dont buy a zoom this information is quite important?

Still a good entry. I've had a re-read and had a couple of layout questions.
I perhaps wondered if this sentence (and Footnote 3) would fit better in the Prime Lens section rather than Camera Choice?
'However put a top range prime lens costing a few thousand on a DSLR and you will notice a difference if you compare prints3, but most people do not.
3 There are fewer lens elements in an SLR prime lens. In a DSLR zoom lens light has to pass through several more, this can and will have an effect on the clarity of the image. The photo magazines often correctly point this out. But for most of us the difference is not noticeable and so not that important.'
Similarly, some of the Prime Lens section seems to be about zoom lenses - are there any sentences in the Prime Lens section that you think might be better off in the Zoom Lens section? I was wondering about:
'If you use a zoom lens there is a trap you must try to avoid. Many people get carried away and zoom in to far, sometimes cutting off sections of the subject (photographs of trees are particularly vulnerable to this accidental cropping.) 6
6 Remember you can always edit the image later but if you have zoomed in too far the damage is irreparable.'

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Try a 2 second timer on zoom shots, because you're not actually pressing the button it can help eliminate camera shake to an extent.

Good idea but many camera do not have a timer and the old cable release has almost gone you have to fire it with a mobile or tablet (arty farty nonsense) so I left it out. A new Fuji you can set up on a tripod and run off a tablet it works the focus zoom and exposure and the shutter, and you can sit in the car out of the wind and have a fag or what ever your fancy.
Back to your point it is intended for inclusion in the planned remote photography entry
where such gadgetry will be discussed, your ideas will be very welcome

Hello Bob
Your Entry is now being prepared for publishing and we were wondering if you have a photo of your lenses, or could take one to grace your Entry? If you have, could you email it as a jpg attachment to [email protected] (we will trim it to the correct size if you send the original)
Many thanks Bob
