A short and sweet entry, but it doesn't feel like the Stuart story has ended here so I hope you'll finish your planned 'What Happened Next' entries. smiley - smiley

The Stuart entries we have from you are:

smiley - okThe Life of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots
smiley - biroJames VI of Scotland inherits the English Throne
smiley - okThe Children of James I
smiley - okGeorge Villiers - Duke of Buckingham
smiley - biroCharles Stuart at the Court of Spain

I can't help but think that Charles Stuart isn't most famous for a trip to Spain, but for something that happened a little later…

The end of the story is here A87856988

The entries were composed as a linked series this one was the sequel to A87842000

Originally they were all given links top and bottom so the reader could follow them in chronological order.

The links were removed in the editing but the two above were the closes linked.

suggestions please replacing the links might be bestsmiley - smiley

In addition A87842370 could also provide the sequel as it is in limbo and contains the last chapter of the story.
It was more about the return home but after a re-read it could do a better job.

Plan A
Use the top section down to but not iccluding
"When Charles and his party arrived in France to conduct marriage negotiations they were accommodated at the mansion of the Duchesse de Chevreuse near Paris."

to complete A87842000 - The Stewarts V. Charles Stewart At The Court Of Spain.

And I will add to and complete A87842370 as a priority to finish the story.

Plan B
Go with the first proposal and link the entries
A87856988, A87842000 and A87842370
As originally intended.

Comments welcome as always, after a rethink I tend to favor plan A. I await your opinion with interest, your interest in the editing process may fire up the enthusiasm to write more entries.

I'd recommend considering the Buckingham entry as purely about Buckingham; a different entry on the Stuarts should be the bookend conclusion of the Stuart story.

Of course it is your decision as to whether you would want to add some of the information in your Henrietta Maria entry to the Court of Spain one. I agree that the information about the return from Spain seems out of place in the story of Charles marrying Henrietta and would fit better in this entry.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by 'link the entries' as part of Plan B? Do you mean combine the information of the 'Charles at the Court of Spain' entry and the 'Charles with Henrietta Maria' entry to create one entry that covers both Charles in Spain and France – a 'Charles Courting at the Courts of Spain and France' entry, if you will?

The best result will be acheived by combination of this and part of A87842370.

leaving part of A87842370 to provide the beginning to the entry taking Charles into war with Parliament.

Yes its a bridging piece, to save the save these relevant points being mentioned in both the other entries.

I hope it also shows the changeable nature of JamesI and how far he was prepared to go to get a political advantage, eg sacrificing Raleigh.

It is also an attempt to throw light on the cause of the story line in the Three Musketeers, a long forgotten scandal.

Let me know if it needs more information or editing. smiley - cheers

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
