Cold as a London Winter

Is it cold where you are? If you're far enough south, probably not. It's summer down there. But right before the holidays, our Researcher on the spot reported half a meter of snow in Jerusalem! It's been an annoying cold winter so far.

We modern types do feel sorry for those people in 1859. They didn't have down jackets, or arctic snow boots. But they are being sociable, huddled around the fires. Londoners must have been gregarious back then.
