What colour are their passports?
Naturalised Actors: Answers
How did you do? Actually, this was a pretty bogus quiz. All of those UK-born performers have become US citizens – EXCEPT for the following three:
1. Damian Lewis. Lewis does a marvellous US accent, but he's true to his home nation. At least, we suspect, until Wales secedes, or something. On the other hand, his grandfather, a Lord Mayor of London, would probably not be pleased if he changed his allegiance.
2. Tim Roth. Surprised? We were. Mr Roth also does accents really well – though his Cockney is too good to be faked. We guess he's just loyal.
3. Patrick Stewart. Okay, with good reason. First, he was born in Yorkshire. Second, it's hard to end up being Sir Patrick Stewart if you change nationalities.
As for Scottish-born Craig Ferguson, he's written a book, appropriately titled American on Purpose. You can watch him take the citizenship test here.
That's okay, he's still sporting a kilt now and again. He'll feel right at home in North Carolina, where they do it all the time at the caber-tossing.
