Some people want to critique poetry and art. Others just want to enjoy. All of us are tired of winter. We've got our fingers on the pulse, here.

A Totally Current Freebie: Have You HEARD the Australian Voices' Facebook Song?

What are you up for today?

  1. In-depth analysis of True Art.
  2. Giggling over Youtube videos.

What if you could do BOTH?

Now you can. Here's how.

Go to this site. It only takes a click. Put down the coffee cup first.

The Australian Voices are a talented group of singers under the direction of composer Gordon Hamilton. They highlight Australian work. They are considered avant-garde.

STOP! Don't run away! You haven't got to the good part yet. Don't navigate away from that page.

See the second video on the left. Click on it. Have you ever heard 'Waltzing Matilda' sung with such pathos? Do you want to sob, or laugh, or give them an A+ for diction? Wow.

Now go to the top right – and find a hanky. You're going to need it. The performance, called 'The 9 Cutest Things That Ever Happened' is a masterpiece. You want to do literary analysis? Try figuring out why this series of images, accompanied by an Anglican chant version of the captions, has you thinking some very deep thoughts about life. And if you can look at that Pomeranian in the middle of the stuffed toys and not laugh out loud and go 'Aww…', you have a heart of stone.

A tweet about the fictional Greg Jevin

The pièce de résistance, though, is the video below that one. The one that's titled 'Toy Story 3 = Awesome!' It's a thrilling musical tale. Listen to them sing 'ROFL' and 'OMG'. Watch the video mash-up. Yes, it's delightful fun. Amen, those people have expert voices – I grew up in choirs, I know. And you know what? That's art, people. Sure, it's using 'found' material, and it's up-to-the-minute relevant, but it's art. It's got that timeless quality about it.

Don't take my word for it. Take a few minutes to watch the videos, and see if you agree.

You can pick up your coffee cups again.
