Martin - A Novel Idea

Martin, had you ever considered us putting in a submission for a full length BBC novel at all? I mean some of our stories have been quite long (Trap in particular) so we know that we can handle extended writing. Just a thought...

It sounds like a very good idea Mike. I certainly think we could handle it. Perhaps we could redo trap so that we wouldnt have to infringe on so many copy rights, perhaps only do parts 3-5, and try to expand upon them?
Oh and by the way, look out for a cameo of Zigrosi in Vengeance. Are you enjoying it by the way?

I think Trap is defninately our, I re read it all the at the weekend. Its amazing, think parts 3-5 are the best though. Part 1 was the worst, but part two ws great as well. Brilliant story, so many good characters. I didnt know you liked barok so much actually, since you were the one who killed him off in the firstplace

Certainly you can read The Valeshini Quest Martin, I'll tell you what I'll put my email address somewhere and you can email me about it.
P.S. Yes I am enjoying Vengeance by the way.

Yes, I thought you handled Eliza's death very well and I really did enjoy Vengeance.
On the novel front I've come up against a snag. I've checked the Writer's Guidelines and... well, Trap (even 3-6) breaks just about every rule in there.
My suggestion would be that we formulate an entirely new story, this way we can write it around the guidelines and it'll feel less like a short story strected out. Possibly featuring the 4th Doctor and Romana?
P.S. Due to various complications I can't utilise my email at the moment so I won't be able to email you Part 2 of the Valeshini Quest for a while alright? Sorry

Ok Mike. I thought part one was excellent by the way.
By the way if we do write our novel could we include Rasputaltron, Zigrosi and Barok. just to introduce them?
The Fourth Doctor and Romana story sounds good to me.

Yeh, I guess that would be pretty god including the "Penny and Mills 3".
I was thinking of perhaps a near future story with a load of politics, perhaps with Rasputaltron manipulating things behind the scenes (set between Trap and Chekawowe perhaps - from Raspy's view point of course). If you've read Trading Futures or know anything of The Enemy of the World then you may know the sort of thing I'm on about.

Raspy Posted Mar 28, 2003
Oh yes I know what you mean, I'm quite good at writing political type stuff.
Martin - A Novel Idea
Mike Zigrosi Posted Mar 29, 2003
Cool, I have written a bit of political stuff and it wasn't to bad. Possibly Raspy could be in charge of a corporation called something like Assemblance or Resemblance (well, you get the pun )

Raspy Posted Mar 29, 2003
I had thought that Raspy might be a senator, who everyone likes(like in Trap)we probably wont be able to use the Galactic Federation, but perhaps we could create a new sort of organisation where Raspy isnt in charge, but he wants to be.
Martin - A Novel Idea
Mike Zigrosi Posted Mar 29, 2003
Actually, you are allowed to use the Federation (as far as I know) it's just the use of the individuals that they object to. Obviously this is only excessive use, for example you could say "The chamber was packed with hundreds of delegates from hundreds of planets; Skellions, Valeshini, Alpha Centaurons" just as long as you didn't make the Aplha Centauron a major character.
BTW The three big no-no's as far as the Beeb are concerned are Daleks, Cybermen and Gallifrey, just to let you know.
I suppose if we included Raspy then it could be set before Trap and then we could just pretend that Raspy knew who the Doc was beforehand

Raspy Posted Mar 30, 2003
Perhaps the Doctor could have met Raspy before, just not know the full extent of his evilness?
ps-Mike, who do you think was the best valeshini in vengeance?
Martin - A Novel Idea
Mike Zigrosi Posted Mar 30, 2003
Sonds interesting and we could utilise some of the ideas from Trap of the Daleks into the novel (perhaps substituting the Valeshini for the Daleks?) For example, the Valeshini could be in a secret alliance with Raspy in order to invade Earth and steal a weapon that a corporation is working on for the militiary, then taking it forward in time and holding the Federation for ransom (the ransom being to put Raspy in charge?) or they start destroying plaents?

Mike Zigrosi Posted Mar 30, 2003
Oh, by the way, I liked the way you handled the Valeshini Emperor
Martin - A Novel Idea
Raspy Posted Mar 30, 2003
sounds like an excellent idea Mike. Great plot. Zigrosi could perhaps be sent by the Time Lords to stop Raspy and the Valeshini?
ps-Since we seem to have a basic idea about Valeshini hierarchy now, could we perhaps include some of the characters I introduced in Vengeance(Chagrin, Spight, Collins)
Martin - A Novel Idea
Mike Zigrosi Posted Mar 31, 2003
Yes, we could, that'd be a good idea, but we must remember to introduce them properly to those readers who haven't read any of our other stories.
I've thought of what the weapon could be. It wouldn't be a weapon exactly, but it could be used as a weapon. I got the idea whilst rewatching the recon of The Enemy of the World. In TEOTW Salamander has a Suncatcher device. In our story the corporation in the near future could be developing a similiar device but the Valeshini steel it and alter it, so instead of storing solar energy to help crops grow it could store solar energy and release it in a beam of concentrated light capable of desimating planets. Note: For some reason the Valeshini can't construct the device themselves, it'd take years or so forth.
