should be allowed to be made between the hours of 8-10am and 4-6pm within 5 miles of any city centre ... this would ensure free uninterrupted travel to/from work by fast public transport which could utilise 75% of the availabile road capacity - the rest for emergency vehicles and a crawler lane for cars (provided they had more than 1 occupant, or for obvious needs - eg disabled access, and taxis
where I work - central Glasgow - very often bus lanes and double yellow lines are totally ignored by delivery vehicles (who could easily find alternative times) / public refuse collections (who could surely do this during the night) - they cause daily delays and disruption to the flow of traffic - which in turn causes people to view public transport in a negative light
