Bagels are a sweet, or often salty, or more frequently a tasteless piece of bread baked in a circle. The term circle, however, is used loosely, because they usually aren't a good circle, more like an oval, or a decahedron with smooth corners. I will examine its character in terms of its origin, develop a concise definition, examine its food related uses, its non-food related uses, and the future of bagel consumption and potential uses and/or derivations.
