Hamsters

Now in my many travels to America, I once happened upon a city named Houston, Texas. Houston was big, it had a space center and a few sports teams, but that's not the point. The point is, I was at a stadium they called the Astrodome (Home of their baseball team, the Houston Astros. Clever, eh? I don't think it's there anymore.) and happened upon a colony of hamsters wearing cowboy hats. Now, to tell the truth, they all didn't seem so much out of place, mainly since everyone else was wearing one, but for the fact that they were only 4 inches tall. I bent down to ask them what they were doing there. One of them, I think his name was Jim, said they had come to see the match that day since they were avid Astros fans. Then his cousin Mike asked me what I was doing here, since I had a "funny accent". I told him I was from London and I was on holiday. Then Jim said that that wasn't right, since it was only July 2nd and the next Holiday wasn't for two days. I myself, becoming quite confused at that point, slowly backed away and found my seat.
I saw them again in the car park after the match, and they all piled into a very old pickup truck that was slightly higher than my ankles. I shook my head and got into my rental car, driving back to my hotel.
Well, after many adventures like this, it's a wonder I didn't go mad. Or maybe I did. Several years later I went to another American city called Minneapolis, Minnesota, and decided to check out some more of this Baseball thing, at a place called the Metrodome, home of the Minnesota Twins. Domes are apparently quite popular (This also happened at the Skydome in Toronto, but I won't go on about that). Apparently, Jim and Mike were also on holiday, visiting relatives in Saint Paul (a city right next to Minneapolis) and had come to watch the Twins match as well. They recognised me immediately, and since we all had general admission tickets, sat right next to me during the match. They continued to chat me up about how nice Houston was, and asked me about England, and said that their cousin Tasha in Saint Paul absolutely adored England, and would be here as well except she was ill. I told them that was all well and good.
When I returned home, I coughed up £5 and bought a hamster. She told me her name was Kathryn and asked me if I would please take her to Houston sometime to visit her relatives, Jim and Mike. I reluctantly agreed.
I'm getting off topic. I'm supposed to be talking about hamsters, not telling stories. To sum up, when hamsters aren't chewing on cardboard or running around, they can be very cute and are very huggable, just be sure not to take them to Houston or you may regret it.
