Anime

Anime, also known as Japanimation or Japanese animation, is an
unusual art form in itself. Originating from Japanese comic books
(manga), anime presents to the reader/viewer a plethora of characters
with saucer eyes, bodies to die for, and enough different colours of
hair to make wigs for every "John 3:16" sign-holder in the Galaxy.

The plots of anime are many and varied, but a large percentage fall
into a category called "magical girl shoujo" (well-developed
thirteen-year-olds transform into scantily-clad warriors to defeat
demon spawn). In the original Japanese, these series are incredibly
profound; however, when translated to English, they tend to lose
their profundity - as with most things Americans lay their hands on.
