Warwickshire Rules of Play

0 Conversations

Warwickshire plays by the basic rules used for many online RPG games: if you arent sure, want to check or dont know here they are laid out for you (which means no excuses!)

Actions

  • Movement, doing something, etc is put in stars. EG *Moves across to [character name] and hands her the scroll*
  • Out of character talk is put in triangular brackets (the mathematical more than less than signs) but please dont do this alot in threads, as it takes up space and people have to read through it. If you want to ask someone something and have a long conversation, go to their space and leave them a message
  • Telepathic communication, if it is a skill your character posses, is done like this (To [name of character] ) ~~But what does this all mean?~~

RPG Etiquette

  • Role play games are turn based- give other people a chance! Please try not to post alot to one thread, remember other people may not be able to get online at the same time as you, but that doesnt mean they arent playing
  • If you are going to be offline for a long time, please try to leave your character in a situation where it will not affect the rest of the characters- IE in his/her room out of trouble or asleep or taken ill and not doing anything
  • 'God Modding' : Try not to make your character so superior that no-one else can play against them, or get a scratch on them. Your character may be a sorcerer or fallen angel or whatever, but give other people a chance and have some weaknesses. Otherwise people wont play with you if you dont play fair! Please, dont always expect to win.
  • Free Will: Dont predict another players reactions. For example, dont say *Slashes [character name] with a big sword cutting them in half and killing them* - that isnt fair! Give people a chance to fight back, for example *Swings sword at [character name]* gives the characters player a chance to decide whether they get hit or not, its unfair to kill another persons character off without giving them a chance!
  • Non Playing Characters (NPC's): Some people may choose to have a Non Playing Character that comes into the game for a short while to add to their story. Feel free to have one, but dont keep them around for ages as its unfair to have two characters, and dont kill off anyone elses NPC without their permission or take control of someones NPC without their permission
  • Continuity: Please try to keep continuity throughout the game! For example, dont know something you shouldnt know - if you havent been told or given any clues, face it, you probably dont know. Try to remember where your character is and 'exit' one place before you enter another. Also, make sure your character has limits set before and stick to them, if your character cant walk on water dont suddenly develop the ability to just because you need to! Also, keep in mind this RPG is of swords and sorcery genre, so dont go pulling guns from your underpants or leaping into cars- they didnt exist then! Be reasonable

The rules are there to keep the game fair and in order, if a game descends into arguments and chaos its no fun! Please keep them in mind

Thankyou
