Sharpe is a maverick British Officer, Richard Sharpe played by Sean Bean.
Sharpe's rise through the ranks in Wellingtons Army began after he saved Wellingtons life, and continued promotions after his daring and courageous exploits.
The Sharpe series is set during the 19th Century Napoleonic Peninsular wars.
