How Rudi Got His Red Nose by Sahara
Jonas and Ruth had been to the mall, doing their Christmas shopping.
There had been so many people and the constant tootle of Christmas songs wherever they went had made them drowsy.
They had stopped at a stall which sold mulled wine. The hot mug had warmed their hands nicely, and the smell and taste of the mulled wine had been sheer bliss.
They had had a second mug, and a third one. They felt refreshed and relaxed, and a little bit reckless.
They were on their way home now, swaying ever so slightly.
Now they came into the open fields. It was a cold night, with the full moon behind them and brightly shining stars in front of them.
The snow glistened, the forest lay black and silent ahead.
Suddenly, they heard a distant jingle. They stopped to listen.
Unbeknownst to them, Santa and Rudi were on their way home from a Christmas do where they had been on the lash.
Suddenly Santa said:"Stop, Rudi, I think I'm going to be sick."
Rudi turned round to look how serious the situation was.
He shouldn't have done that!
Santa called: "Watch out, Rudi!", but it was too late. Rudi was too slow in his reactions, all that alcohol was taking effect.
Rudi was unable to stop or avoid crashing into an obstacle which hadn't been there just a moment ago, or so it seemed.
It wasn't exactly true, it was just that Rudi had been zig-zagging through the air, not realising how low he had come.
Poor Jonas was knocked off his feet and was badly injured.
Santa was sick by the wayside.
Ruth was shaking in her boots with terror.
Rudi was so shocked that he took up drinking and soon was an alcoholic.
If you don't believe me, have a look at his nose, which is red like that of any other alcoholic.
