Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game. And it's also a TV show, many video games, action figures and a comic book. The story revolves around Yugi Muto, an ordinary boy who plays a game called Duel Monsters (which, not coincidentally, is almost exactly the same as the real card game.)
Then all sorts of strange stuff happens, including having his grandpa's soul taken away by Maximillion Pegasus, the creator of Duel Monsters (well, not really.) and his Millennium Eye. So Yugi goes to the Duelist Kingdom to try to save his grandpa.
No, it's not anything like Pokémon.
Except for the monster part, of course.
