Pride of the English

I am writing this entry during the 78th minute of the England v Denmark game when the score line stands at 3-0 to England!
When the English team beat Argentina last week to drive around the streets of Manchester you would have been hard pushed to believe the celebrations on the streets were not because England had won the cup only one game!
The same week we celebrated the Queens Golden Jubilee, and I think it can be said that the pride the English people have in their country right now is at the highest level in many years.
The point is it is probably time to harness this great level of National Pride and use it to our advantage.
Manchester hosts the Commonwealth games very soon, another thing we have to be proud of, so come on everyone lets pull together and shed the recent lethargy and make our country a great place to live and to visit, stand up and be counted, transfer some of your pride to helping others, putting rubbish in the bin, tidying your gardens and looking after each other, this way we can be proud for more than a couple of weeks, we can be proud of more than our Monarchy and Football team, we can be proud of ourselves and our contribution!
