Sandwiches

0 Conversations

Created first by the evil Earl of Sandwich, when he used a mouse trap consisting of two peices of metal, and occasionally chutney, the sandwich has become famous all around the world. Although still used as an instrument of torture, especially in South American countries, some like sandwiches as a snack, substituting the metal for bread and butter.
There are many fillings around the globe, including cheese, Bovril (which is, rather confusingly, meant to be a drink),and fish.
In some countries, defeating the point of sandwiches, there are open sandwiches, which only have a piece of bread on the bottom. Apparantly, this custom originated in places where poison was often used: people needed to b able to see what they were eating without having to mess up the wonderful shape of the sandwich.
