Project SETI (Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) are looking for volunteers to 'crunch data' from the Arecibo radio telescope. I heard it on BBC news.
You download the program from SETI@Home website, then some data, and get crunching! When complete you upload the resultas, and download another chunk of raw data. Seems particularly appropriate for participants in H2G2.
