Top secret stuff ?

I don't know if this is the right place.
I live next to Devonport Dock yard, at the back door(so to speak)
I'm a light sleeper,But, on the morning of 30.09.10 at around 4am to 5am I was awaken by the sound of heavy machinary being transported ,I got up and looked out of the window,and I couldn't believe my eyes as to just how big this vehicle actually was.it stretched from the front end at Marlborough House ,and the back end stretched a long,long way up the road to the park( which is a hell of a way up the road).it was very ,very wide also.
There were blue lights flashing on the top,I think it had a police escort too.
I'v seen large vehicles before,But nothing as big as this.
I can understand them moving such a vehicle at that time,because of the size of it,and that there wouldn't be any traffic
But why was it being (As I think) sneaked in by the back door . ?
It would have gone in the gate at the main entrance a lot easier.
Which makes me think, something nuclear perhaps??
