Why people think the world is going to end soon
Created | Updated Jan 29, 2007
I have come to the conclusion that the end of the world is most likely not going to happen soon. Hopefully something like when the sun explodes in millions of years time. This entry is going to explain why people tend to think that the end of the world is going to happen soon.
1. The Media.
There are a lot of T.V. shows and movies nowadays that are talking about the end of the world. "Supernova" is one and "the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" is another. Fortunately the latter tells of the Earth being re-built. Aliens are another thing that the media talks about a lot these days and their saying things that like "there is sufficent proof that there is aliens in Roswell and there is an area 51" which isn't right because their isn't sufficent proof to support these claims. And what newspaper would you rather buy? One with "The World is Going to End" as a title or one with "Kitten saved my pensioner". The end of the world makes great publicity and everyone is eager to find out when their going to die.
2. People like being scared.
People these days like watching scary movies and riding rollercoasters. So why can't people be scared of the world ending?
3. Told ya so!
Another thing is that people like to realise when the world is going to end (more or less) and then they can take precautions so they won't die and their mortal enemy probably wouldn't so they can say "I Told Ya So!"
4. Religion.
Okay a lot of religions say the world will end when bad things are happening like corrupt government and children that are disobedient. This is happening now and is a pretty good explanation for the world to end soon but still not a sufficient one. Christians believe the second coming of Jesus, the war of Armageddon, the arrival on earth of the Antichrist, the Tribulation and the Rapture will cause the end of the world.
5.Other Theories
There are other theories about how and when the world will end. For example the Mayan calendar expires on December 21 2012. (More will be added soon).
