There are plenty of positive role models for the Lesbigay community and this page is going to link to any h2g2 entries that are about them or give breif biographical details of any others. These are people who have reached greatness in their chosen field in spite of homophobia or even if it is irrelevant set standards for the lesbigay community to inspire to.

Politics

Pim Fortuyn (1948-2002) the far right Dutch political figure was the only openly gay politician, despite the Neteherlands being a country where gay weddings are legal. He was brutally shot down while campainging for the 2002 elections. He was a liberal far right wing politician acknowleging that those immigrants already in the country had rights but pointing out that the Netherlands were full.

Literature

Oscar Wilde one of the greatest writers in the English language actually served time in Reading jail for his homosexuality. His writing conjtain many insights into the culture of his day and even turn upside down the institutions of hte day especially marriage and class.
