Review; Carpenter's Arm's, Cambridge

1 Conversation

The Carpenters Arms, a convenient 3 minute stagger from the publishing company where I work, has recently refurbished. There follows a review of its various amenities.

Half of the pub has carpet, while the other half has the ever popular bare floorboards.
It has a jukebox and a pool table.
The barman is crosseyed, so it might be advisable to either;
a] order whatever is immediately to one side of what you actually want or;
b] develop a spirit of adventure when it comes to drinks.

The pub has a dog. It’s white, and is one of those dogs whose head seems to be too big for its body. It looks at you as if you’ve got food, even when you haven’t. His name is Deefer.

If you see hair on the carpet, the dog is not shedding. They offer a barber service on Thursdays. It's £6, with a pint included.

The beer’s O.K. Sometimes the glasses could be cleaner, though.
There’s also, bizarrely, red and white wine on draught.

They do food. There’s a badly punctuated menu to prove it. Everything is very good value, and food often comes in such large quantities it's impossible to eat, unless you're Homer Simpson. And none of us is, of course.

Conclusions:
The dog has what it takes to make it in publishing. Recommend we make him an editor.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
