Dolphin Girl: Patron Saint of Incoherent Ramblings; Keeper of Flutes and Singing Watches Started conversation May 28, 1999
When Elizabeth was six years old she hammered a nail into her favourite tree to mark her height. Ten years later she returned to see how much higher the name was. If the tree grew by five centimetres each year, how much higher would the nail be?

The tree might grow but the nail stays at the same height because a tree grows from the top upward. What puzzles me: Why go back to see how high her name would be, when it was the nail that was hammered into the tree. vegiman

PS. You may have typed name instead of nail because it reminded you that you put your name on a tree once. Only guessing. vegiman
