The Hoary Head of Prejudice

1 Conversation

(I think I posted this incorrectly earlier - and may have done so again. I'm new to this, obviously!!!)

I remember a quote which goes like this: "The hoary head of prejudice, mantled in a guise of experience, dams up the stream of knowledge, and avers the fields of science open alike to all"

I have searched all my resources to find out if I have it correctly, and who it is attributed to - but I've drawn a blank. Anybody out there know?

I've lost count of the situations I've been in when this quote seemed to fit perfectly. Do you have a similar quote?
