Ok sorry I haven't responded sooner been away all week end with out access to a computer. Now in regards to your experiences let me start by recommending you DON'T seek the help of a medium. First most mediums that you can find are a bunch of charlitans out there to make as much money as they possibly can. Second many of the legitimate ones are concerned with the conjuring of spirits which will make your problems worse not better. Instead let me first recomend a house blessing. Don't tell the priest you think its haunted just ask for a blessing. If that doesn't help(unlikely) you might want to try saying a prayer for the deceased or if you know a open minded enough clergy person ask them to read the prayers for the dead specific to your beliefs in the home although make sure its some one you trust.

I could probably manage a blessing myself as i doubt it would 'have' to be christian..As a witch im already a priestes.

You mentioned Josh has had a few 'run-ins' with this lady, how about yourself?
I take your point about mediums, Kevin, but how about holding your own seance to contact the spirit to ask what holds them?

Ok a few things.
First in terms of doing the blessing yourself is a qualified yes. If you have a strong religious conviction and a good dedication it can work(I mean no disrespect I don't know you so I can't make such judgements one way or the other). Wiccans CAN cast out spirits and lay them to rest to the importance is on personal faith NOT religious dogma(I speak from experience). In fact as a non christian using there ritual would pobably be useless for you becuase of the conflict of faiths(its always best to use the religious traditions of the person who lives there).
The reality is that there is always a chance what you're dealing with is more then you think it is. If its a ghost the steps I've suggested can help or possibly do nothing(free will applies after death as much as before hence the fact you can't exorcise spirits of the dead) but it probably wouldn't do any thing bad. If it's not(and its extremely unlikely that its not) then the rituals could royally piss it off. Some one with a good back ground in such matters is as such the ideal. I wouldn't expect things to get worse but caution is always wise.
In regards to the theory of conducting ones own seance I can't stress enough how bad an idea this is. Seances are tricky things better left to an experienced professional(much like exorcisms). Its hard to be completely certain of what your contacting(evil spirits have a bad habbit of lying) and further you can wind up contacting some thing you don't want to by mistake. I know a few cases where people started off with innocent intentions and got very bad results that took a lot of work to fix. Check around if you can find a very credible one who knows what they're doing and does not work by summoning up spirits(conjuring a spirit by magic is necromancy one of the oldest and most forbidden black arts) they may be able to help. A good indicator is usualy the question of charge. If they want money beyond reasonable expenses keep looking. Another good question though would be your general location. If you are in or near the Deleware Valley(PA, NJ, DE, MD) or New England the group I work with might be able to help and for the record the only money we accept or ask for is for gass and tolls for cases that are very far out of our area.

I'm not sure Sandra'd be wiling to pay your plane fare over here though!
I've had some experience with ouija boards, which I suppose are very similar to seances, and my sisters mangaged to get a bad spirit which latched on to them. My flatmate and I did it once too and some bad stuff was coming out of it so I can totally understand how difficult it'd be. I was always under the impression that ghosts were spirits that were unable to move on for some reason though? Can a spirit actually choose to stay behind?
