Some people say it with flowers, others like to express their love for the object of their affections with more lavish and expensive gifts. But for the last decade visitors to and residents of Paris, widely regarded as the most romantic city on the planet, has chosen a relatively inexpensive but much more permanent way to express their love.

The Pont des Arts, the footbridge which links the Louvre with the Seine's left bank, is under seige from the Paris Town Hall.
