An insanely paradoxical invention whose roots are virtually untraceable due to the fact that they're stored in computers. They are semi autonomous piles of electronics designed to remove the workload from the various species that use them, however have the unique ability to require exponentially as much work to keep them operational. Some civilizations have abandoned their momentous hopes of restful, computer enhanced futures and instead use them as cutting blocks and delightfully attractive coffee tables.
