Initially dismissed as one-hit wonders, slammed as being a band grasping onto the last straws of a scene's glory, and accused of being the next unoriginal band in a long line of unoriginal Dickies rip-offs, the Presidents of the United States nonetheless took post-grunge America by storm.
Boasting an irritatingly catchy sound and a firm grasp on pop conventions the band, officially made up of Chris Ballew, Dave Dederer and Jason Finn, found their way into heavy radio and video rotation with two well-timed entries into the alternative rock scene. Lump and Peaches would only offer a glimpse of what three talented musicians can do with a two-stringed basitar, a three-stringed guitbasse, and a drum kit which is so small it would make Ringo Starr shake his head in shame.
Formed in 1990, the Presidents wouldn't see their full line-up come to fruitation until 1993. After years of persuading Jason Finn away from his then-band Love Battery, he would finally round-out the line-up and help the Presidents become one of the most popular local acts in Seattle prior to releasing...
