Venus Fly Traps

The Venus Fly Trap (or VFT) is a small wetland carnivorous plant which lives in the N&S Carolinas of the USA. It decided long ago in it's evolutionary past that it was going one up on other more mundane plants. And developed a sadistic manner in which to catch lunch. The VFT waits for an insect, or small amphibian to walk across a 'trap', this triggers it to close and release digestive juices. This results in a meal for the VFT and a severe weight loss plan for the unfortunate victim.
Keeping VFT's: In a 7"-9" pot in sphagnum moss peat. Keep very wet. DO NOT FEED DEAD PREY, OR ARTFICIALLY CLOSE TRAP - it will reject this. Goes dormant in winter and doesn't need feeding. Will attempt to flower, but isn't much worth looking at.
