Lucys character is pure, innocentand her white gown is symbollic of this.Appearing as virginial yet her transformation to vampirism is sexual.Though a vampire, sucking childrens blood and throwing a child to the ground with ''a sickening thud'',Lucy is not as evil as Dracula because he choseto rebel against God to be what he is but Lucy didn't...he controlled her. Draculas use of hypnosis and telepathy to control and be in other's thoughts is again more advanced than the time which this book isset. The process of psychology had only just been introdced. In my opinion he became a monster nlike any other in death yet in life he was not. Many people today have ''jekyll and hyde''/''split'' personalities, his ability to love is not of an evil characteronor is it horrific. The reader can empathise with his character who is evil yet has an ounce of genuine goodness within..somewhere, and so because of this cannot rest util he finds peace which he gets from being killed and becoming one with god..repenting against sins. With characters based on real people who inspired Stoker at the time, the vampirism fear becomes a reality.A man of Draculas calibre seems so real and through this imposing realism created by his use of first person narrative,Stoker awakens a fear in the reader at the time o reading the book that lingers on in the memory, thus making it one of the best horror classics of all time. u
