Gearboxes-Austin Maxi

Good explanation of the operation of gearboxes but am a bit puzzled as to the mention of the Austin Maxi as being Flawed.
I am on my third a 1974 model and have not found a major flaw in any of them. The last two have been the second car and have done all the hard work like dragging the trailer about and rescuing the childrens cars when they break down. My experience with them has convinced me that they were and are a brilliant design and vastly under-rated. The concept should have been developed and would have been if the Japanese had done it.
I am a retired Chief Engineer and ex motor mechanic with quite a bit of experience. Would like to hear some replies
