What to do in Brighton when you're only five.

Here are a few ideas for fun days out in Brighton whether you're just visiting or you live here.
Candy Castle is an activity centre off Lewes Road. The great thing about this place (which is extremly difficult to find despite the prolific signage) is that once you're there your adults can sit and drink coffe and read the paper, leaving you to get on with playing in peace.
If you fancy swimming you can go to the King Alfred (in Hove actually) where there's a shallow pool. They also have a children's slide although it's often out of use. The Prince Regent isn't quite so good. They have a beginners pool but it's more suitable for older children.
If you fancy a day at the beach don't bother bringing a bucket and spade. If you want a sandy beach you'll need to go elsewhere such as Littlehampton or Camber Sands. There is a beach volley ball court which can be used to make sandcastles although the grownups tend to get a bit narked when they're using it.
On the pier there are lots of fun rides but make sure your grown ups bring plenty of cash. There's also a merry-go-round on the beach which is good for those whose legs are a little on the short side.
Don't forget to visit the tourist information centre in town for lots more information. There are regular children's activities, parades and so on especially in the summer and during the arts festival. (around May time) They can also tell you about all the other fun places there are in Brighton which I can't tell you about as I've never been there. These include the Toy museum, the Booth Museum, The Pavillion, Preston Manor and the sealife centre.
