A Conversation for Discussions Relating to the Lifetime Ban of Satyagraha

posting this thread for perspective.
i live on the front range in colorado. i defended quincy. this obviously means i'm lekz. that means i should be banned for life from h2g2.
that is the entirety of the argument you have against satyagraha, so it should be good enough for me too. satyagra did nothing besides those things. there's no accusation of flames or anything. poof! he's defended quincy and news flash (in the second sentence of which the editors said 'this is not conclusive proof', but maybe some of you didn't feel the need to read it all?) he's in the metro denver-boulder area! so ban him. ok better ban me too cause you know i've gotta be lekz. i'm interested in facts and she is too. there's more proof.
facts: to drive from county line road in littleton at the very south of the metro denver area to the very northern edge of boulder, which is all the same wide-area-network (phone area code, dial-up area), would take two hours, on the freeway, off rush hour, if you observed the speed limits. to get all the way to the eastern plains edge of "saudi aurora" from the foothills edge, if you take the freeways, it's an hour and a half, easy. i don't know how many miles cause it's always measured in driving time.
i don't know if you guys who live in a country that's just a little smaller in area (the united kingdom, not england) than colorado knew that little detail so i thought i'd let you know.
i know that must mean i'm lekz. my parents have been lying to me my whole life.

I forgive your ignorance.
I did know, actually. I'm interested in facts too. That makes us both LeKZ. Hello, me!
Speaking for myself only - it's never once occurred to me that you might be LeKZ. There are all sorts of reasons for that. You're probably uninterested in them, so I won't bore you any more.

It's amazing how many people take an interest in this old story within their first week. How many weeks was Quincy here before jumping in, acting like he presented a fresh perspective on our old debate? Maybe a little longer than Satyagraha or wfg.
My advice to anyone who wanted to convince people that s/he doesn't have a direct personal interest in the characters s/he defends would be to wait for at least 2-3 weeks, maybe a month before letting your new persona comment on the old, controversial persona(e).
For example, "Claytoy" was a new researcher who jumped into a discussion defending "Playboy Reporter." I doubt he has the skill to ever pull it off, but if PR wanted to be more convincing, then he should have waited longer. Just like Satyagraha and wfg should have.
Don't worry, wfg -- when they start a thread titled "Don't Ban wall flower girl," I'll post there too and ask that you be treated based on your current behavio(u)r, not based on other names you've used in the past.

i hope you're kidding! i posted in the don't ban quincy thread to say the only reason i'd even heard of any of this was because he emailed me! i'd commented on something he said. he didn't know if i could help and neither did i. but he seemed like a nice guy when he posted here so i decided to speak up.
lesson: wall flower girls shouldn't speak up. we're not designed that way.
brother. now you've got me all worried again. i'll just stay offline for a few days.
which way did she go?

It's advertised on the 'Community Soapbox' page, which is advertised on the 'Talk' page and the 'Feedback' page - so it's only four clicks away from the front page.
It's worth bearing in mind here that a Researcher who posted in defence of Silent Lucidity, who some suspected of possibly being LeKZ, was fairly conclusively shown to be not LeKZ (Editorial IP Trace). That name again: 'Donna Quixote'. Donna posted in only three threads, and all three were related to LeKZ. Donna joined h2g2 on the 22nd, and posted to the SL ban forum on the very same day.
Donna wasn't LeKZ. Proof, if proof were needed, that the suspicions of the community aren't always accurate, and interest in this old story doesn't always translate to guilt. An important precedent when considering Satyagraha, and maybe Quincy too.

I know just what you mean Wallflower Girl, I posted in the don't ban quincy thread that I had also done both of Quincys crimes. So I'm expecting to be banned now as well.

Hi Kaz
As we said over there, Quincy wouldn't be banned for what he said. The question is whether he is a banned Researcher posting under a new identity, or posting on behalf of a banned Researcher. Some people really can't keep away from h2g2, can they?
Hi there wall flower girl. How's it going?

wall flower girl Posted Jan 17, 2002
um, it's going. as long as i can still see my page i'm neither dead nor accused of being lekz. how are you doing? this isn't exactly fun on your end either.
? or maybe ? i know i could have been a waitress if i just hadn't gone to college!

I have an idea for a protest. I'd almost participate myself too, but not sure yet. Here's my idea: these "Ban" or "Don't Ban" whoever threads are supposed to indicate that the h2g2 staff is listening to the opinions or evidence that members of the community might present on behalf of accused people. [I'm taking it for granted that the Modest Proposal lifetime ban procedure is not a way to go through the motions of justice, allowing researchers to blow off steam after what might be a foregone conclusion by the staff.]
So if we have their attention, why don't we start threads on the Suspension of Quincy and suspension of Satyagraha page titled "DON'T BAN ANYONE." Present your reasons there why you don't think a lifetime ban makes sense for anyone, and why all of these new login names should be allowed to say anything they want, even if they are written by a banned researcher, as long as they don't break rules.
Another idea for a protest, similar to the way people have been writing "I'm Not LeKZ" or "probably LeKZ" in their nickname, would be to start a "Don't Ban Subcom" (you know what I mean, "Don't Ban [your name here]") on your own user page. Imagine hundreds of conversation threads titled "Don't Ban" someone showing up in interesting lists, hottest conversations, etc. It also sarcastically gives the staff a head start in case they really think about banning someone down the line. It lets us post "character witness" statements long before necessary.
What do you think? I say if LeKZ can come back under new names and refrain from breaking the other House Rules (apart from the rules about Lifetime Suspension), then what difference does it make? I thought that was the position h2g2 staff had stated before, but obviously not.
