Officials in Mexico say they have confiscated hundreds of animal skins and stuffed remains, many of them from endangered species, from an illegal taxidermic operation. They say that more than four-hundred items were recovered, including a lion's head, the skins of leopards, pumas and a Bengal tiger. The officials say the items were found in a raid on a home in the south-eastern city of Merida. A man was arrested. Officials say that he claimed to have permits to carry out his work, but they maintain that he had violated wildlife protection laws.
