I should perhaps qualify that statement about tables - as far as I can remember, the mobile version of h2g2 can't support tables, so they get stripped out. This may have changed...

Thanks smij - I would be very interested if anyone has a phone that they use to access h2g2? I looked at the site on a friend's BlackBerry when I was last in the UK - and it was curious to see all the smileys written out and so forth.

I have tried, with mixed experiences.

I'm reading this on a Nokia N97 Mini. The smilies all appear as pics, which are animated.

I use my iPhone to access h2g2 - I even managed my current journal entry -which is quite long, it's no different visually from looking at it on my computer, it's just more difficult to type.

what do you think about the table in this Entry please Dr Zen - is it readable via your phone?

Just had it on my phone and on my computer at the same time - and the only real difference is that the computer is larger.

I recall that the h2g2 Mobile proposition only included the Edited Guide, so to see how tables look on there, look at today's entry on the Beatles' '1' compilation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/pda/A61816188?s_id=4

Hi all. Any word on the table issue? We're happy for tables to be used if they clean up and clarify the information - and in this case it might be preferable to a long list. Nice to have you back in PR, Smij! A lovely Entry too!

I hadn't picked up on there being an 'issue' with the tables - but as they get stripped out on the Mobile version of the site, I was avoiding doing one. They add weight to the page for little benefit and would actually make the listing even longer.

I could switch the episodes around so they'd come episode title first, then the tx date in brackets afterwards, to make them match other entries such as 'Secret Army' or 'Callan'. I wavered over whether to ditch it, to be honest, but I can't actually find another decent complete episode listing to the series online!

Funnily enough, searching for "Grove family"+"episode guide" on Google brings this entry to very near the top, wheras "Grove family" on its own is really far down

No - please don't consider ditching the episode guide - whatever the final format it is presented in, especially if that information is not available elsewhere on the web. h2g2 is really much more visible in the search engines in the last couple of months.

Lots of Entries are more visible now... and I don't need to press so many buttons - that *must* be an improvement for Hootoo

You're right - the pda skin only works for Edited Entries so we can't look at this before it goes live. I would be loathe to include information in a table if a whole skin can't see it, though.

Just tweaked the episode guide bit, so that it's 'Episode Title' (transmission date).

This looks ready so we'll be accepting this now. A table, if it's need, can be added in at the subbing stage. Thanks all.
